My name is Reeves Raley or Mr. Raley for my students. I am your friendly neighborhood Kindergarten teacher. I have been a part of the Douglas family for 3 years now and could not imagine a more fun place to work and interact every day. I graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education in 2014. I became a teacher for more reasons than I can put into words, but most importantly I see it as a way to help develop a stronger and more educated group of citizens. I have always loved being a positive male role model for students, because it is the one-on-one time in the classroom and on the playground that motivates me to continue teaching every day. I see every student as an individual and value each one in their own way, focusing my energy on making my instruction student-centered and strongly aligned with the goals of Douglas Magnet Elementary School.
If you are new to Douglas this year or have wondered more about our Magnet focuses, then let me fill you in! Douglas Elementary is a magnet school, which is a public school offering special instruction and programs not available elsewhere, designed to attract a more diverse student body from throughout a school district.
My goal as a teacher is to have every one of the students in my class grow to love learning and being at school. I know exactly how school can become daunting for students and want to make sure Kindergarten is not for your student. I also hope to learn something everyday from these amazing kids and colleagues at Douglas Elementary!
